Since July 2013, the Serviceplan Group has been represented in China with its own office in Beijing, and since September 15th 2015, with a second site in Shanghai. For the second time, after the successful premiere in 2014, the Serviceplan Group and GfK honoured the best brands in China as they have done for the last twelve years in Germany. Based on a survey conducted in China, the second “best brands” awards outside Germany were given in ten different categories to the most successful Chinese brands. The ceremony took place at an exclusive event with 150 invited guests in Shanghai on 17th September.
Munich/Shanghai, September 21st 2015 — “best brands”, the German brand rankings which have been awarded for twelve years, went international for the first time in 2014 and on 17th September 2015 honoured the best brands in China for the second time in Shanghai. In ten categories Serviceplan and GfK, Germany's largest market research institute, awarded the most successful Chinese brands at the Waterhouse in Shanghai. This year, the agency for live communication Uniplan is proud to be the co-organizer of this prestigious event, creating the ultimate experience for visitors through their expertise in the live communications field. The winners were determined, as in the German “best brands” rankings, by means of a representative survey. The GfK's specially developed analysis model measures both the economic success and the appeal of brands in the eyes of consumers, using a 4,000 strong Chinese representative consumer sample.
The “best brands China” winners 2015
More than 150 guests, from industry, trade and the media, experienced the exclusive evening event. The guests were welcomed by Ashok Seth, Managing Director of GfK CE China, and the event was hosted again this year by Michele Lean, an actress and television presenter who is very well known in Asia.
Roger Strack, Managing Director of Serviceplan China: "We are proud to present ‘best brands China’ for the second time in 2015, and we have also expanded it from seven to ten categories this time. The results reflect the fierce competition in the very dynamic Chinese market. Well established global players have to compete increasingly with strong, new Chinese brands."
Siegfried Högl, CEO Consumer Experiences of GfK Germany, added: “GfK makes the strength of Chinese brands transparent with ‘best brands China’. I am convinced that we will have more Chinese best brands on the global stage in the future.
The German brand rankings "best brands" was launched in 2004 to promote successful brands in Germany. The awards are presented annually in February at a gala event at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich in four categories. Since 2014, these have been supplemented by two categories from a guest country; the first was China. The winners of best brands are not selected purely by the subjective judgment of a jury, but by the consumers themselves, as the best brands rankings are the only marketing awards based on of a representative survey conducted by GfK. The strength of the brands are measured by two criteria: the current economic success, and the appeal of the brand in the mind of the consumer. No other brand rankings takes into account both these facets of brand strength. The partners of best brands are: the Serviceplan Group, GfK, ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, Wirtschaftswoche, Markenverband, iq media marketing and, since 2013, Ströer Media AG. “best brands China” is organized by Serviceplan and GfK.
